About

I am a Canadian mixed media artist, working primarily with textiles. I'm curious, eccentric and just a little opinionated.

Domesticity rules today

Since i am feeling rather crappy, but still content with life, i have gone through my list of must do's

done laundry     cleared the outside drain (not in the nude after all, only because it's cold and the neighbours are home)   made beef stew for dinner   vacuumed the whole house      did the dishes     sorted out what's left from the craft show all done!!!

I also played. While i was at the show this weekend, i  asked a tie dyer who was there with her wonderful Procion dyed wares, to send me her "clean-up" papers, wanting to do some paper fabric with them. (See Yvonne Brown's article "Reverse Applique and Bobbin Embroidery with a Twist" in the Winter 2005 isue of Quilting Arts) Since i don't *have* any of them yet, i made do with tissue paper, bits of glitz, sheer sparkly white organza, tracing paper and my paints. They are drying right now, hopefully with no added cat fur as they are in Doogie's spot by the heater! I'm impatient to begin them! (For some wonderful examples you can also see FaeryDi's work here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/faerydi/244365419/in/set-1155176/   and here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/faerydi/244365420/in/set-1155176/) It's a very messy process and i smeared myself from stem to stern!

I did okay at the show, not great, not horrible, only okay. I did however get asked to put my bags in another store, and bought some wonderful things too. Some i can't show you, as they are part of  my son J's Christmas package! I bought this from the funny potter sitting next to me (--David was a hoot and with his girlfriend Alicia and the jeweller Mike on the other side of me, we made a lot of noise and ha a lot of fun!) I'm tired of dipping my brushes into my coffee and/or drinking the paint water because the cups look the same, so this is for my brushes:

I traded for this pendant-----one of the Tawdry Rose bags and some cash from the jeweller who made this--just love this piece! Isn't it spectacular! It's about 3 and a half inches square and i wore it the second day of the show.

Also bought one of David's  "finger bits"---it now hangs in Bruce on his rear view mirror so Greyman can flip the bird if he desires, whenever he desires! :} Beside it, in the photo below, are the 2 ear"cuffs" i also bought from Mike.

I'm kind of at a loss now as to what to do in the studio! I suppose i should catch up on the Swapswap, fabric journal pages, christmas presents and something new for the shops, but at the moment i am happy to just wander around the house, pleasantly bored.............................................

Oh what a great mug! A mug with mugs all around it! What a great idea. Sorry the show didn't go as well as you had hoped. But you never know what might come of it. Enjoy a well-earned rest! :-))
