i haven't disappeared, i've just being dyeing...

Fuschia! Electric blue! Poiple!!! Mud! Smudges! Blobs! Happy accidents and hopeless failures! Some of my Procion worked and some didn't....i'd hoped to get the most gorgeous violet i've ever seen, only to have it all wash out because it was a poly/cotton blend i'd mislabelled. Shit...... And my saffron leaked into my scarlet so i got orange unintentionally. And everything dyed evenly with very few spots of interest.....even when i overdyed...remember when the intent was to have an even application?. Oh well.  Some of it was salvageable with a judicious application of either DynaFlow colours or bleach trails!

I needed a whack of new colours because a lot of the product i had at the gallery sold during the Christmas season and i have to replenish their shelves. The damn dyeing takes the longest, the flipping beading the next yonk of time. In a day and a half however, i have managed to start and finish 18 pieces, with another dozen to go.....

Oh and to sop up the excess dyes rather than flush or wash away--i threw some old white washcloths and towels and let them do their sog it up however they wanted!  Most of the dye was exhausted, but i did end up with some lovely blues and greens :}

Photos tomorrow.

We have tentatively a 14th ECRR player. I would really like to see either one more or 4 more!

I really wish you'd post a warning before you put up a title like that. I nearly choked.

Can't wait to see pics of the results of your dyeing.

for the future, get a yard or two of good, white cotton flannel. I cut them up into fat quarters, dip in the soda ash and wring almost dry. Have them all over on dye day for wiping and blotting and general cleanup...they usually windup the stars of the show!

It's good to hear that a lot of your "stuff" sold. There must be a lot of happy gift recipients out there.

I'm sure you don't have to be told that all those "unsuccessfully" dyed pieces are only in their first step to eventually being wonderful outcomes ... especially in your hands.

OK, count me in as a ECRR player. I tried to resist making another outside commitment, but it sounds like too much fun to miss.
