About

I am a Canadian artist in Calgary, Alberta, working primarily with textiles. I'm curious, eccentric and just a little opinionated. Surrealist in thought, Fauvist at heart, this is my almost daily art journal, eccentric and eclectic, explorative and absurd.

On the hunt

Via Rosa Murillo's blog i found out about this:

kemperpen.jpg

Looks a lot like a tjanting tool, but is made for using with acrylics, inks, oils and watercolours. I'd like to have one to add text to my work: the hot foil pen i have tends to rub off with only a little abrasion and is frustrating to use on certain fabrics. And i've never had much luck with pigment pens either... I'm checking on line for a Canadian supplier, as shipping from the US and the UK is ridiculous! It's called a Kemper Fluid Writer Pen and i want one!!! Two actually, as it comes in a thick and a thin nib size :}

The first place I looked was at Dick Blick. They're 14.48 USD there. Is that in the cake decorating ballpark?

I'm no help as to where to get these, but I wonder...aren't they the 'pens' they use to decorate those gorgeous eggs?? Maybe a search under those terms might yield what you're looking for.

OOPS except that besides the shipping and handling fee, you also have to pay a "processing" fee if you order under 25 bucks--oh well. It may be DB i order from then....
