About

I am a Canadian artist in Calgary, Alberta, working primarily with textiles. I'm curious, eccentric and just a little opinionated. Surrealist in thought, Fauvist at heart, this is my almost daily art journal, eccentric and eclectic, explorative and absurd.

In which i get all weepy

I am totally floored by this, especially since my last 2 weeks of entries has been pictureless and creativity wise VERY blah. Apparently i have been nominated 4 times for the Arte y Pico award and it's making me feel very much like a fraud right now!

Adjusting to a different province is more taxing than one might suppose: the dryness has led to many nosebleeds (fortunately done with now), getting used to brown everywhere--though at least we will see a "second" spring after having our first on Vancouver Island :} and the most exhausting, setting up our space in MIL's and working around her needs and excpectations, and trying to keep what we do almost as ritual! (Morning is reserved for quiet sitting, coffee, cats and computers, not what's for dinner, take the garbage out, move the table, etc :})

I did actually have the sewing machine out last night and managed to spend some time on it with an experiment, so at least my hands are wet! Now for the feet and total immersion again! Because things are set up differently here, i literally grabbed something that was going to fall out of a box on a shelf, and used that. The only inspiration i could find was tearing and stitching, cutting and restitching so we'll see where that takes me..... all i see at the moment is purple pods and greenyblue pollen!

Hopefully it means Things Are Happening again..........

Maybe you've been nominated by everyone for your courage in moving to another province with your MIL.....*S*

That takes great courage......or...how about for your body of work???? That's much more likely, don't you think?

Oh Arlee, it was never going to be easy, I think you deserve a medal.

Enjoy your 'textile fix' tonight, you deserve it!
