About

I am a Canadian mixed media artist, working primarily with textiles. I'm curious, eccentric and just a little opinionated.

rust note!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take it out of the bucket and let it sit until it naturally dries---you need some oxidization from air as well to get the truly spectacular results.

I am adding this note to the Rust easy tute-----it's been added in there if you go back to that entry. After your fabric has been in the rusty liquid and bits for the days, week or month, take it out and let it dry naturally---the air will oxidize more of the rust to stain the fabric and create more "special fx". It also helps if you do as i did: place it in a shallow container with half an inch of the rusty liquid. It doesn't all have to evaporate and will extend the oxidizing and drying time a bit, but the wait is worth it. Put it in your sunniest spot!!! THEN, rinse rinse rinse!
