About

I am a Canadian artist in Calgary, Alberta, working primarily with textiles. I'm curious, eccentric and just a little opinionated. Surrealist in thought, Fauvist at heart, this is my almost daily art journal, eccentric and eclectic, explorative and absurd.

a little journey with colour

Paintedy paintedy paint. Paintedy paintedy paint. Rinse and repeat.

This is paper i also saved from work, somewhat the same idea as the cardboard. Above flat and un-manipulated. Below, stretched out and curved, then on a form, for use as a vessel object.

And the cardboard now, a pain in the bazotski as it squirms and worms while under the brush.

I hung it over a clothesline to dry in the basement. Fortunately MIL has not had to come down here today, though i think she's finally realized nothing should surprise her in the subterranean depths of my Stoodio :}

Caught with rayon thread, 6 strands through a huge needle---had forgot how twangly and stubborn that stuff is---and stitch/couched to my double arch piece.

A detail:

I *thought* i had used tea bag paper for the base of this piece---it would probably have been easier to stitch through if i had! It's actually a thin newsprint! That meant any stitching had to be done straight up and down in a stab motion so the thread wouldn't cut through the paper. I had backed it with a thin batting to give it some body thankfully. Still a WIP.

Another arch, slightly longer and wider than previous ones. So far, unstitched.

And a wee bit of work with some metallic markers on a piece that has been sitting for a couple of months. Mixed media, with silk leaves, tissue paper, fabric scraps, paint, cardboard cutout all on a stretched canvas.

That's the pleasure of painting as well--while one piece dries, another can be worked on and soon things pile up. When my machine/s work again.................i'll be SUHmokin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok...now I'm suffering from sensory overload (see post on my blog and you'll understand why I say that). Just too much eye-popping in one day!!

You amaze me! Fantastic experiments and results..glad you didn't lock yourself in the freezer.
I have a 'what if ' here.....
What if (when you get a machine.)..you stitch all over a piece and then cut the same slits in it and extend it?
