a little journey with shape
Tue, September 16, 2008 at 9:29AM I started the morning off with a little expedition that turned into an hour and a half of inspiring images. Christine had awhile ago posted on our Fabric Artjournals blogspot a picture of a triangle book she had created and then had published in a compendium book. Several commenters had asked there, and to me privately, if there was a pattern. Not knowing if Christine had replied, i googled hexagons----they can be folded into the triangle book. Here's the "pattern" i came up with, easy peasy to make! Cut the one line, embellish all your triangles--i'd do both sides--then fold! (clickable)
This thumbnail above if saved to your files then opened and printed from a photo editing program, should give you a pattern that is 9.625 by 8.319 inches. (Use the "fit to page" setting.) You can make it larger by folding in half, extending the lines, redrawing them, then cutting ON THE FOLD from a larger piece of paper. If you are unable to do this, email me and i'll send you the jpeg :}
Besides quilt patterns and crochet works in hexagon shapes, i also found these, worth a little side trip:

simple book shapes and ideas--for kids initially but adaptable.

a quite esoteric version----the binding/stitching also caught my eye:)

Now i'm off to play with the garbage:}.
