About

I am a Canadian artist in Calgary, Alberta, working primarily with textiles. I'm curious, eccentric and just a little opinionated. Surrealist in thought, Fauvist at heart, this is my almost daily art journal, eccentric and eclectic, explorative and absurd.

Over the next few months, i will be moving my blog in entirety to my new space. Please stay tuned for the final shifting, sometime in July of 2010. FyberSpace Shop Slow Cloth on Facebook

pressed

i think i am feeling trapped in a way by the work i am doing on My Heart Has A History. Don't get me wrong: i like this piece, WILL finish it and love the process, but i feel like it's arching over me and pressing down, much like the Chinook Arch we have at present. There are warm winds after Friday's snow and ice, but warm winds should bring new things too.

I'm just sitting over here watching the process. It's very interesting.
Have you had any interest in working on anything else? :)Bea

Sometimes I think we set ourselves up too much with new projects and it sinks our desire to finish them. I've yet to figure out a solution to this that doesn't require diving in headfirst with little to no idea of what the finished product will be.

BEa, yup, thank goodness :} Glimmerings of an idea.
Rose, that used to be the case, and i certainly have enough UFO's to prove it! Lately, these pieces are driven by themselves--i'm just a tool, you should forgive the expression :}--

I'm checking back in with you to see how you are doing. It's like popping in on someone trying to deliver a baby! lolololsnort Have you popped out the idea yet?
What ever it is it's going to be heading you in a new direction. The Muse has lots of ideas for you. Unfortunately, in her world they are already finished. You have to do the physical part. :)Bea

Arlee,
It is just that itchy feeling... you scratch it then it is gone. Let the creative juices mull and a new idea will ferment... is that what mulling is all about? I had better look 'mull' up iin a dictionary. Anyway keep stitching and mulling, mulling and stitching and it will all happen.
Been busy this weekend but hope to catch up on your blog entries asap.

ps - Dan is too busy with mounting school work to introduce me to The Face... so don't quite see how it all works... I feel like an.... Aztec.. I was going to write 'Grandma' (too offensive) then I was going to write Ancient... (then I thought that wasn't definitive enough so, then I wrote Aztec.
