About

I am a Canadian artist in Calgary, Alberta, working primarily with textiles. I'm curious, eccentric and just a little opinionated. Surrealist in thought, Fauvist at heart, this is my almost daily art journal, eccentric and eclectic, explorative and absurd.

ignited again, part the a

I haven't any pics to show you of work done during the move--this time i was smart enough to realize it wasn't possible. Go figure :} (Besides, i packed the USB cord for Ms Hissyfit Camera somewhere for safety and i'll be dogl-arned if i can remember where "safe" is......)

I am feeling ignited though! Not only are things calm, happy and returning to our routine, but the bonus of having a dedicated studio again is not only seeing things after unpacking, some stuff for the first time in 15 months, but of having natural light again! I'm partially set up, still waiting for the last few pieces of furniture to arrive and have contents dumped back into drawers, but the majority of it is done and ready to use. I must say too that having had things packed away that long meant that some boxes felt like opening presents and some felt like "OMG i don't want/need/use/like that any more"! I've found projects i know now i will never finish, i've found some that i can't wait to finish.

Our move did not start out auspiciously however. The Friday before, we went out to the other vehicle to go to the store only to discover that Bruce, our 90 Honda Civic sportyboy-lovercar-tootsie-sweetietires, was GONE. Now, seeing as he has no engine at the moment, we figured, correctly thank god, that he had been towed--sure enough he was in the City Impound classified as--- as a "Derelict"--HORRORS, the shame, the embarrassment he must have faced! Since we figured it would be easier to make ONE tow of him to the new place rather than back to MIL's and then HOME, we left him there until Tuesday. With the initial tow fee, fine, "admin fees", rental of a truck and a trailor to get him there and the subsequent kilometre-age fees, he has had a very spendy start to his new residence in his own garage, the little bugger...still, he is now safely ensconced inside and Greyman is greatly relieved. I am relieved also, because i love Greyman and Bruce and am glad things worked out, however much coin we had to spend....we will allbe giving up all chocolate, catnip and wild weekends for awhile to recoup the money however....

The kids have had a great time exploring all the new nooks and crannies, though they do not like the basement--while painted white and very clean, it smells creepy: old and fusty, it is a 1912 basement after all. The first two days they found several home bases to hide in, but once the familiar piles of cosmic debris started showing up they got braver, and now have the place under their paws again. The biggest adjustment they had to make was no "Granny Fuud": ie MIL was not feeding them canned crap 4 times a day. And hearing and seeing hail up close to the windows.......and squirrels, magpies, robins and Bobby the neighbour cat, also close to the windows :}

Ha, the USB cord just fell off the top of the fridge: we shall have shot-age again.

Part the b tomorrow :}

Thanks all! Good to be back :}

Mo and Miss Piggy aren't related actually--but when Greyman brought that little ragamuffin home because Mo was lonely, he immediately became her protector and big brother--they are inseparable!
