About

I am a Canadian artist in Calgary, Alberta, working primarily with textiles. I'm curious, eccentric and just a little opinionated. Surrealist in thought, Fauvist at heart, this is my almost daily art journal, eccentric and eclectic, explorative and absurd.

part the b

So nice to have mail and no one shaking it and pinching the package to "see" what's in it! The first thing i received was a wonderful textile printing block from Rach, that i had ordered before the move:

From a very old Paducah Kentuckey supply store that made their own horse harnesses and other horse supplies, according to the info available this is one of many that was used to hand print their own catalogues in the 30's! I love the shapes and can see some cool stuff happening with this one :}

My second piece of mail was a copy of this:

And inside (clickable):

Unfortunately, no credits were given for the "quilts" themselves, but they are "by"/for Leslie Cohen, Nellie Durand, Nancy Waldman and myself, with the help of several groups of Exquisite CorpseMistresses. ( I shall have to dig out the names of all!)

As i mentioned in the previous posting, having natural light again is inspiring in itself! I "saved" these fast from a bag destined for donation and am going to use them as faced applique shapes in various things:

There are some commercial stretch velvets in there from my Bimbo bikini making days, some deep rich velveteens and a few bits of hand dyed rayon velvet as well. I make these roundingies in the evening as they can be done in front of the tubage:

 And now, i am off to the studio. And that's easy: it's right behind me and around me as i write this :}
