Serendipity..................

I stumbled across an old file with colour and shape possibilities and played a bit with it, coming up with this:

Simple, and wide open to possibilities. I dreamed about the outcome for this last night: the Alpha fugue for me is a time of infinite designing. Often i don't remember clearly next morning what happened, but this one stuck. Might not look exciting to you :}

"What Is Never Said After" is 2/3 done, stitching wise. I have to decide on an edge treatment as it has very irregular areas. I added buttons down the side of the rose trim, first thinking i needed to go out and buy those precious little domed pearlies, then remembering that part of this is NOT buying anything new if not absolutely emergencetically necessary. (Yes, i made that up: emergencetically: i like it.)

Those edges are going to be a pain on the bazotski.

my first quilt show rejection

Hoo ha.
"Stitching and embellishing very nice. Overall impact lacking." I know the jurors have to wade through a lot of entries, but a wee bit more info might have been helpful----what impact? The colour, the subject, the method, the size, the placement???????

I have shrugged this rejection off--at least i tried an entry instead of just thinking about it, obstacling myself, or turning in substandard work. I am VERY proud of this piece regardless. I am disappointed, but i am not crying about it. Big girl pants and all that. It's not my favourite work, Beautiful Bones retaining that title, but i do like it!

Greyman on the other hand was QUITE upset to hear about it----i will not repeat his words :} I still intend to go to the show in April, with camera, possibly even with Critic Greyman in tow, and see what IS acceptable in such a big Canadian show. And not to slag those who did get in: i truly want to see---and then i will know that quilt shows are probably not the way to go with my art.

Squarespace (and any other paid platform/host) only keeps blogs on line that are paid for. If i died, or got really sick, or lost my disposable income, and this blog was not paid for, it would simply not be hosted anymore and disappear. The ONLY way it will ever be seen is maybe the odd cached page or from the Internet Archive (the "Wayback Machine").

I am paid up until the end of August or September, but see no sense in continuing after that in case the direness ever happens, as some of it will. Would you want all your entries to go b-bye if it happened to you??? I will be adding entries to the new space, old and current, trying to build a new base and subscriber interest there.My last post here will probably be at the end of July or mid-August of this year.

I will continue to post here with new entries, with intermittent reminders of the new place. These entries will also be cross-posted on the new one, IF they are relevant. Perhaps i should do all my whining, venting and ranting here in the meantime :}

The new blog is in flux and will change quite often as i learn new tricks over there--it's a bit different than squarespace, in the posting/settings/admin section, but i have had offers of help from the wondrous MrXStitch, so hope things line up properly soon! And not all of the old entries here will make it over. Moving things unfortunately also means i can't transfer comments already made here..sigh.. some *are* priceless....

Again, i encourage you to bookmark and add yourself as a subscriber over there. The address is http://albedoarlee.wordpress.com/ and is still called "albedo". I actually "opened" that space in 2006, but never did anything with it really.
I'm sure there are 11tybajillion miles of variegated threads here, and i can't wait to work with them. I also finally recieved orders from the UK and the States, adding more to the collection. In the pile of packages was an ordered copy of Art Quilting Studio Winter 2010 and am totally in awe and shock at what's in those pages--OMFG, what a treasure trove!!!!!!!!!!!
How come when i mail something to Australia it gets there in 5 days, but things mailed to me from the states at the beginning and middle of January STILL aren't here, from just across the border????????????????

I ordered variegated embroidery flosses from the US and from the UK, at the same time i ordered from the LQS---at least the ones from there are in, minus several that apparently are discontinued.......can't even remember what colours!

I'm hoping to rinse out some more of the "secret cloth" this weekend, but am not sure it will be a good batch. The first one was pure lucky happenstance, but i think i know what i did wrong this time and can remedy with the next round. I really love the first piece that i saved from the sold bundle and am anxiously waiting to use more. I think i'll try it with a silk chiffon i have as well.

I found another old poem as well, that i'd like to put into a piece, also from '76. And somewhere there is an old duotang full of later ones.....

You will also notice a new logo/link in my sidebar, "TAFA"---a new network for artists who are serious about promoting their work and methods.
